New details have emerged regarding the tragic incident in Gjirokastër, where a teenage boy lost his life in a private swimming pool.
According to information published by Jugulajm.net, 16-year-old Arbër Peçi had gone to the “GLOW” swimming pool earlier in the day accompanied by two friends. Sources cited by the media outlet, close to the investigative team, claim that the teenager entered the water but, within seconds, began signaling for help through gestures.
According to the same sources, none of the people present immediately entered the water to assist him. The alarm was later raised by his two friends, while police and emergency services arrived at the scene but were unable to save the teenager.
So far, the preliminary version cited by these sources suggests that the minor may have suffered a sudden medical issue after entering the water. However, the exact cause of death remains unclear and is expected to be determined through ongoing investigations and forensic examinations.
Meanwhile, questions have also been raised regarding the safety conditions and operation of the swimming pool where the incident occurred. According to reports, authorities are verifying whether the facility complied with all legal obligations related to visitor safety and emergency response management.
It is also reported that the Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out investigative actions to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Additionally, surveillance footage that could help fully establish what happened is expected to be examined.
