As a protest continues in Tirana, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted through a post on Instagram, condemning the behavior of several protesters toward a person carrying an LGBTQI flag.
Sharing footage of the incident, Rama stressed that no one should be humiliated, excluded, or attacked simply because they are different. He emphasized that respect for individual rights and human dignity are fundamental values of a democratic society and that discrimination and intimidation have no place in modern Albania.
The Prime Minister stated that freedom of expression and peaceful protest must never be used as excuses for acts of hatred, intolerance, or bullying against others. According to Rama, Albania’s future should be built on respect, inclusion, and equal treatment for all citizens, regardless of their background, beliefs, or identity.
Concluding his message, Rama strongly condemned those involved in the incident, delivering a direct message: “Shame on the bullies.”
