Municipal Employee Breaks Ranks and Speaks Out at Protest: “The Socialist Party Ruined Me”

Fiori Ndini, an employee of the Municipality of Maliq, publicly appeared at a protest today, speaking openly and on camera about her dissatisfaction with the current situation in Albania.

Ndini stated that Albania has become a country from which many young people want to leave, blaming what she described as poor governance and a lack of opportunities.

A member of the Socialist Party in Maliq and a former holder of various positions within the party’s local structures in southeastern Albania, she said she had contributed to the party for several years, including serving as a branch chairwoman. However, she now claims that she has been “sunk” politically and professionally because she refused to be subservient to party leaders.

For several days, Ndini has joined young people and other citizens from Korça and Maliq who have taken part in protests inspired by the demonstrations taking place in Tirana. She is calling on citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to stand up and demand better public services and greater accountability from those in power.
