According to reports, the confrontations began after residents approached the construction site and came face-to-face with police officers guarding the security perimeter.
At the height of the tensions, several protesters removed part of the metal fencing that had been installed around the worksite.
Residents also attempted to block heavy construction machinery, while law enforcement officers intervened to move them away from the area and prevent the situation from escalating further.
