Prime Minister Edi Rama was spotted on Sunday morning at Basel Airport in Switzerland. In footage obtained from the scene, Rama can be seen walking through the airport accompanied by a police officer.
His presence in Basel coincides with Art Basel, one of the world’s most prestigious contemporary art events, where the Albanian Prime Minister is participating as part of the official program.
Rama’s trip comes as anti-government protests in Albania have entered their third week. Thousands of citizens have taken to the streets in opposition to the proposed investment project in Zvërnec, demanding the government’s resignation and a review of decisions related to the project.
According to the official Art Basel program, Rama is featured in the public section “Parcours” with his artistic work titled “Societe A.”
The project is a monumental sculpture based on drawings and sketches that Rama created while serving as Prime Minister, often doodling on official government documents during meetings and official duties.
His appearance at the international art event comes at a time when political tensions remain high in Albania, with ongoing demonstrations continuing to attract significant public attention.
