As the anti-government citizens’ protest entered its 12th consecutive day today, the Socialist Party (PS) has begun mobilizing its structures for the 35th anniversary of the party’s founding. The event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, June 12, at 5:30 PM in Italy Square, Tirana.
According to a message circulated among PS structures in the capital, local organizations have been instructed to ensure the highest possible turnout for the event.
The message reportedly states that each Socialist Organization must guarantee the participation of five members in line with targets assigned to each administrative unit, while organization leaders have been instructed to attend together with their groups in designated sectors.
Meanwhile, protesters who have been gathering daily in front of the Prime Minister’s Office for the past 12 days have announced that they will continue their demonstration tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
Organizers have called on citizens, including public administration employees, to boycott the event organized by the ruling majority and instead join the protest.
According to protest organizers, the daily demonstrations are attracting growing support, while their main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the departure of the government.
Attention is now focused on tomorrow’s events, as both gatherings are expected to take place within a short time frame of one another. It remains to be seen how large the turnout will be at each event and whether any tensions or incidents will occur.
