Today marks the 17th day of the so-called “Flamingo Revolution” protest, which opposes the construction of the resort in Zvërnec and calls for the resignation of both the government and the opposition. Among those present were artist and singer-songwriter Robert Aliaj Dragot and his daughter Gala.
Aliaj made strong accusations against the entire government and recalled that he and his daughter had also raised their voices during the 2018 student protests.
Robert Aliaj:
“Gala and I were also present during the student protests in 2018. We did not succeed with the students because they destroyed the movement; they destroyed it through infiltrations from all sides. Today, history is repeating itself.
This must not happen again, and it must end here. I want to call on all public and private institutions—especially public ones that carry responsibility in their duties—from universities, academia, and all the others, to come here and make their voices heard.
What Gala said earlier—that a government which does not support the interests of your generation is your enemy—is absolutely true. We cannot create the arrogance that this country belongs to a single boss and that everything will be done according to his will. We cannot tolerate a leader who speaks on behalf of every representative of the state. There are no ministers here; there is one man speaking for everyone, and this is not democracy.
I also call on these representatives of the state, who were elected by you, on these ministers who do not have the courage—let me not say the guts—to come out and defend not only the duties and responsibilities they have accepted, but also the country and their personal dignity. If I were a minister, a prime minister wouldn’t be talking crap in my place, because this is a very bad precedent, first and foremost for the Socialist Party.”
