Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again commented on the protests that have taken place over the past two weeks through a post on his social media account on X.
Rama stated that the demonstrations are no longer about Sazan Island or Zvërnec, arguing that they are now damaging the country’s image, disrupting the daily lives of thousands of people, and encouraging what he described as extremist behavior.
“This protest, which has deteriorated into a crowd directed by malicious minds and harmful hands toward the airport road, blocking thousands of people during the night and restricting their freedom of movement, contains within it the very evil of extremism that fuels online bullying and forcibly disrupts the rhythm of life for the majority,” the Prime Minister wrote.
He further added:
“I feel sorry for the young men and women who blindly marched toward Rinas, believing they were defending freedom and independence in the name of an imaginary revolution, until they themselves realized what a foolish mistake they had made by following individuals infiltrated by destructive forces, whether from inside or outside the country, whose goal is to cause as much harm as possible to Albania.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid continued demonstrations and growing political tensions surrounding the ongoing protests.
