The leader of the “Shqipëria Bëhet” (Albania Becomes) party, Adriatik Lapaj, has sharply responded to Prime Minister Edi Rama after the latter reportedly referred to politicians participating in the protests as “animals.”
Speaking during the protest, Lapaj said that Albanians had entrusted Rama with power for many years, but now, according to him, the prime minister is insulting both the Albanian people and their children.
Lapaj also called on Rama to resign.
“You shepherd, the people made you Minister of Culture, then Mayor, and now Prime Minister. You have been in power for 30 years, and today you call Albanian children ‘animals’ simply because they do not agree with the theft and corruption you are carrying out. You are the leader of the thieves and you must resign. Resign and face the youth of your country. Leave an office that no longer belongs to you,” Lapaj declared.
The remarks came amid ongoing anti-government protests, where demonstrators have been demanding political change and greater accountability from the government.
