Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again reacted to recent reports published by Greek media outlets, many of which have criticized the American investments expected to be made in Albania.
In a statement released this afternoon, Rama said that Greece is enjoying the benefits of foreign investment while, at the same time, tensions among Albanians are being fueled by the recent media coverage.
“Greece continues to successfully ‘sell itself to foreign investors,’ while we are being provoked from all sides to argue among ourselves, even over the fact that 1+1 equals 2, and to remain stuck at a crossroads while our competitors continue racing ahead to attract more foreign investment. How can we close the door to major capital investments now that they are finally beginning to come to Albania after all the hard work it took to reach this point? The whole world develops its tourism industry and economy by measuring how much foreign investment it attracts, while we are supposed to measure ourselves by how strongly we resist it?” Rama wrote.
The Albanian prime minister also shared an article highlighting the improvement of the Greek economy and the transformation of the island of Mykonos into one of the most visited tourist destinations, a success attributed largely to foreign investments in the area.
